Welcome to Long Street Primary School

photo of schoolLong Street Primary School, was first opened in 1970, with teachers outnumbering students (8 Teachers and 6 Students). The School only lasted two hours that first day and was decided that it be shut down, until enrolment numbers increase.

Long Street Primary School was to re-open again term 2, 1971. The first Principal was John Lange.

In 1975, the lunch sheds were enclosed to form the School Hall that still stands today.

As school numbers increased, so did the size of the infrastructure, two more portable buildings were added, the double portable in 1976 and the triple portable in 1977. A further building was added in 1984, but removed in 1987.

The school is built on approx 4.3 hectares of land and includes several playgrounds and a large oval.

During the 1980's the school peaked at 460 students, and continues to maintain around 250-300 students to this day.

1n 1996 a new playground area on the South/West side of the School was built and named Ramke Park, after our Grounds Person, Trevor Ramke.
This was a fitting gesture to mark the years of dedication and work he has put into the School.

Recent additions to the  school include an upgraded front garden entrance, resurfaced playing area, and a new all purpose Sports Hall/Gymnasium, provided to us with the Federal Governments Building Education Revolution money.

In over 40 Years Long Street Primary School has taught well over 3,000 children.
